Test drives in Chevy Volts forget the importance of electric vehicles and highlight quiet, smooth, and quick acceleration. Plug In Carolina also needs "two clicks" of your time.
Finally, a pleasant role reversal when speaking with people who drive gasoline cars.
It happened. Last week I purchased a Chevy Volt and I love the car. For the last four years I've been telling everyone why electric vehicles are important. How they can impact our economy, environment, and national security. But in one week, I've learned how to be quiet. When I let people drive my Volt, I sit in silence and let them hear silence. As the car accelerates, I watch smiles appear. I field questions as the driver comments on how smooth the drive is. Better yet, the importance of the vehicle comes up at the end of the conversation, not at the beginning.
In fact, I'm finding a sort of role reversal in my conversations. I may say,"Gasoline vehicles? Listen, I'm all for gas vehicles. I think they're great. But don't they have problems with acceleration? Aren't they a little loud? When gas vehicles can accelerate as quickly and quietly as my Volt, I'll consider one. But for now, I think I'm going to stick with electric vehicles." All said in fun but truthful.

Hey I saw your volt this morning out on a bike ride. First one I have seen out in the wild!! I'm guessing it is yours since the color is the same. I live in the same area great to get a chance to actually see the car in the flesh. As a single guy, so one car family the volt would probably make more sense for me. Hope to run into you driving it one of these days. If you see a guy in an Audi A4 station wagon starring or following you that would be me!
